Vacation = Good

Monday 2/6, B and I just wanted to take it easy on our last day so we decided to stick close to Carlsbad. We went to Lou’s first thing in the morning and I unloaded 9 of the “garbage singles” and traded them for the newer Oasis album. Then we went over to the video side and I picked up 4 or 5 used movies, so our trip to Lou’s was fairly successful overall. We decided to go back to the outlets after that where I picked up the Vans I’ve been eyeing for months (the pink ones with skulls on them, I know, how cute huh?!) but no Puma suits, damn! B promised we could go up to the Marysville one some weekend and get them then. We looked in a lot of other stores but didn’t buy anything else. Then it was off to Old Carlsbad for lunch, so we parked the car and started walking up and down the streets and finally settled on Pizza Port where I haven’t been since Mom and Dad first moved into the house, it was good, if not a little slow. But to make up for it we walked up to the bakery and each got a little treat. There were some killer sales at the boutiques, but I resisted and we went to the beach instead. We walked around for a little bit and I took some pictures then we went home to relaaaax. Watched tv for a bit before heading over to meet Alishia at University of CA San Marcos for coffee and to visit. We got Starbucks then found an empty computer lab and chatted in there until it was time to head home and Lish had class, so we drove home where we found Dad prepping dinner. I asked Aubs if she wanted to go to the Vans outlet and get some new sneaks, and she did so we blasted down there and I got another pair (pink and brown checkered this time) and she got two pair as well. Well I bought her a pair and she bought herself a pair. What a fun big sister am I! We got home and had a nice family-style fondu with lots of beef and two different kinds of marinated chicken, French fries and lots of fresh veggies. It was delicious and we all stuffed ourselves, but not before we could down one of Dad’s home-made malts. After that it was about time for bed so we all headed our separate directions for sleep. Tomorrow we leave.

Sunday 2/5, I called Bella Stanza in the morning but much to my dismay, they were closed that day for the Super Bowl, damn! And I couldn’t go Monday because that’s the usual day they’re closed, so as far as getting my lamp went, I was screwed this trip. I got ready and B positioned himself on the couch for an entire day’s worth of watching television. Mom, Aubs and I all headed down to San Diego to drop Aubrie off for her competition, then Mom and I drove around in the Gas Lamp area then over to Little Italy where we found Bella Stanza. So I’m cruising this adorable biscotti jar (I don’t even like biscotti!) when my Mom says “There’s a lamp right there” and as we stand there looking at these magnificent items from the outside through the window I yell “THAT’s THE LAMP, THAT’S IT!” yes, that’s right, the exact lamp that has been stuck to my washer and dryer in paper form, was right there, but I couldn’t even touch it or see how much it was. Guessing by the cost of my biscotti jar though ($180) I’m thinking it ain’t gonna be cheap. As I left feeling slightly depressed, Mom suggested lunch but the place she wanted to go was closed, so we went to the Pier 1 clearance store instead where I picked up 4 charming striped mugs. Then we went back down to the Convention Center, parked and began to walk around to find lunch. We eventually settled on this very nice Italian restaurant, with one of the hottest waiters ever! He even gave me a business card for the restaurant (I’m sure I’m the only one he’s ever given one to) and my Mom thought he had the hots for me. Here’s to hoping. So we got out of there just in time to go over and catch Aubrie’s performance and they really kicked ass, and got 1st of course, then Mom and I booked it out of there and back home to watch the remaining part of the Super Bowl. Let’s just say the afternoon / evening of watching the game didn’t go well. Those refs sucked, I heard one has been suspended though, so that makes me happy. At least the food was good, Mom made a ton of junk food including: potato skins (no one makes em better than her), Hooters wings, a token veggie plate, many varieties of chips and dips, apples with caramel and I know I’m forgetting something else, but it’s been too long now to remember. After the game, Courtney and Pat came over to hang for awhile to discuss the game and pick up some Disneyland tickets. We watched a few episodes of Monk then they left, then after another couple episodes we all went to bed. What a disappointing game.
