Sunday 7/30, I got up early to go to Costco for gas and to do my grocery shopping, then I ate breakfast and went on my long walk because I hadn’t done it for 3 weeks. I showered when I got back and Susan and I decided we would go see a movie later after we both ran errands. I was going to go to the tile store but went online and found out they were closed Sundays so I vegetated instead. When Susan got home early we decided to go to an earlier showing, so I called Court to wish her a happy birthday and told her what movie we were seeing (My Super Ex-GF) and she was all “Ohhhh, Kare, you know it’s going to be bad! Are you sure you want to do that?” It was very funny, I told her I had seen some truly terrible Luke Wilson movies in my time and it surely couldn’t be any worse than those. So Susan and I set off for the Issaquah theater and we both loved the movie, it was so funny, for a Luke Wilson film. We looked at shoes, home décor and books after that then made our way home where we both primarily stayed in our rooms for the rest of the night. I ate popcorn for dinner and ended up watching a whole bunch of episodes of What Not to Wear then reading and going to bed.

Saturday 7/29, I woke up and Dad made French Toast and it was soo good I ate three pieces. After breakfast I sat around on the deck in the sun and watched UB pack up but then everyone got on a “painting rocks” kick so we picked them out and started in. I made a pancake with butter melting on the top but everyone kept saying it looked like an egg or embryo, so I was tempted to write either “This is not an egg” or “Pancake” on it. I helped Casey with the autograph on his baseball then Uncle Brad started his Huskie one and it looked really good. By 1:00 Grandma and Papa had left, then Uncle Brad, Auntie Heidi, Casey and Hailey left so I started packing up my car and cleaning the upstairs, helped Dad take down the trampoline and dumping trash. Finally around 3:00 we were ready to go so I packed Rose in and off we went. We did fine until we hit Monroe where we waited for about 25 minutes to get through but finally got to her house. I helped her in with her things then she took me over to LeAnne and Alen’s old place and showed me what the new guy did and it’s so amazing, I was totally blown away. She wanted me to stay longer but I had to get going so I left and made it home where I enjoyed the emptiness of the house and showered, ate some pizza and relaxed. Kassie and I decided to meet at Mom’s at 8:30 so I could take her to the airport. When I got there no one was there so I called Mom and visited with the dogs, then she got there, we packed up my car and took off for Sea-Tac. She was freaking out so we talked about things and I think that helped. When I dropped her off I felt another sense of, not abandonment, but like loss, I was so sad to have another one of my sisters leaving my life for a long period of time and no way to reconcile it. It just made me really sad and I never thought I would say that I’m really glad that my parents decided to have so many damn kids. Well, at least some of them. As horrible as that is to say, hopefully someday I’ll feel differently. Anyway, I drove home and watched Garden State and played on my computer then went to bed.

Friday 7/28, I got up and went down to the deck and breakfast was in the works and Dave’s gf had shown up but they decided to go for a walk so they missed breakfast then ended up coming back right as it had all been put away so it all had to be brought out again. Kassie and the girls were leaving that morning and we all got the impression that Dave wasn’t going to be leaving at the same time and sure enough when Kassie left Dave and his gf stayed behind and were just hanging out because they wanted to go river rafting. No one wanted to go so we all decided to split up with Dad, Papa and I going to the automotive store so when we left Dad shook hands with Dave and said it was nice to meet him and I said it was good seeing him and that we weren’t going river rafting. Dad was irritated by the whole thing and said that they better be gone by the time we got back. We were gone probably 2 hours and when we got back they were still there, hanging out there by themselves and up in the loft so Dad goes, “What are you guys still doing here?!” and they were all “Oh we’re going to go in to town and get something to eat, then come back and go swimming and take a nap” so Dad was like “Ok guys, it was nice having you over but this is a family reunion” so they sat and talked for a while by her car then announced that they would be taking off. It was really weird, especially because I think they were planning on staying the whole weekend. Anyway, after they left Dad and I washed my car thoroughly and pumped up the tires. The girls got back and we all gossiped and grazed then Uncle Brad and I took the bikes out for a little ride and Ryder almost blew our cover when we rode down to Morey’s place, then Dad and I went for a spin so at least I got a little exercise on this trip. There was some confusion about dinner but we eventually decided to leave around 7:30 for Gustav’s so I took a nap in the hammock and thought about how much I missed Aubrie and wished that when I went up to the loft that she’d still be there. She’s so fun that as soon as she left I instantly missed her. I even missed her little friends, they were fun too. Finally it was time to go so I changed and we set off in two cars, with me in UB’s truck, though we made a pit stop to see Grandma and Papa’s house they were renting, then it was on to Gustav’s where we encountered a 40 minute wait for balcony seating. We got seated, ordered, ate and I opened presents. I received some good presents and despite being told not to, the waitress brought out a little birthday dessert, only it was kind of nasty. We headed back to the camp after dinner and all hit the sack. Casey wanted to watch Goonies so he put it in but fell asleep before the end so I woke up and turned it off.

Thursday 7/27, Casey got up early to play golf with the guys and then the rest of us got up, ate cereal, got ready and headed out to Wenatchee while the Moms went to Leavenworth to shop around. We went in two separate cars because we all couldn’t fit in one. As we were leaving Plain Kassie’s friend Dave called and said he wanted to meet up with us later in the day to go swimming. When we got to Wenatchee we stopped at this little bakery and got some goodies then we found Hastings the music store where I bought four new cds and the new Q. We headed back to Leavenworth to meet up with the Moms for lunch. We went to Pavz and took their table because they were finished. I got the roasted veggie crepe that Kay-See got the last time and it was soo good. We all split the strawberry crepe for dessert. We tried to hit on the waiter but he didn’t get it or something. We walked around a little bit then ended up in the park by the pool where we laid in the shade for a couple of hours reading and clipping each other’s toenails. Gross I know, but true. Finally the Moms called and said they were going to swing into Leavenworth and pick us up on the way to the secret swimming hole. As we were driving out there this motorcycle ended up behind us after passing on a corner and a double yellow, so I exclaimed, “Who does that idiot think he is?” and then Kassie goes “…Dave?” and waved and sure enough it was him. He had seen us and turned around to follow us to the swimming hole. So we parked and hiked in, though it was a little tricky in some spots, and it was so beautiful. We thought we saw people swimming but it turns out that the fish are huge and were jumping out of the water, which looked like swimmers. The sun was behind the mountain but I still got up to my waist in the water and Rose blew us all away when she dove in and swam half way across the river. Kassie and I had to go to the bathroom so we went up this little trial and experimented with peeing like a man. Let’s just say it worked out for me and not so much for Kassie. So she dove into the water to get rid of the evidence and her and Dave swam to the other side and were jumping off rocks and things which was entertaining to us all. Finally Dad and the rest of the boys showed up and we all had a good time hanging out and laughing. Good family fun! We left around 5:45 and Kassie and I stopped at Plain Grocery so she could get Hopscotch ice cream then we went home where Dave was waiting and Dad had begun to prepare dinner. The neighbor boy Reed was outside playing his drums so I convinced Kassie, Casey, Aubs, Shelby and Megan to go over and invite him to do smores later, so they did and came back with good news. By the time dinner was ready it was dark so dad had a flashlight out so we could see the food, then Reed came over and Kassie and I began talking to him while he had some dinner too. Dave told us to stop hogging Reed so that the other girls could get a piece so we disbursed then it was birthday time and I had a huge piece of angel food cake with a mountain of strawberries and whipped cream. I got a little bird knick knack from AH, UB and Hailey that AH had since last year, and it was even the brown one which is the one I wanted. We all sat around the fire for a long time then the “kids” went out to the trampoline except me, I was tired so I went upstairs to read my book. Soon they were back up there and apparently Dave was spending the night so Dad and I had had to clear room out and blow up another mattress, but I decided I would bunk with Kassie so he didn’t have to go through so much trouble, then she gave me all this attitude about it so it really irritated me because we were sharing because of her 40 year-old friend spending the night. Weird.

Wednesday 7/26, I had to pick Rose up at 8:00 so I was up by 6:15, dressed, packed up the car and rolling on the freeway at 6:50. I got to Everett at 7:30 and stopped at Safeway for a little yogurt then on to Rose’s by 7:55. She had all her stuff down on the driveway so I loaded it up and we went upstairs to lock up and chat while she finished her breakfast. Soon we were rolling and had a lot of fun talking on the way over. We made it fairly quickly due to the earliness and day of the week. I found Aubs after I unloaded my car and Mom was all over our asses to paint some signs so we congregated around the table and each contributed to the Events Schedule and the Fox Den sign that hung outside the loft door. We had a lot of fun painting then were waiting around for Auntie Heidi, Uncle Brad, Hailey and Casey. We were off schedule cause they were late so Mom finally brought out the snacks for us to munch on and then went down to go swimming. Right as we got down there Queen B showed up and started getting his rig hooked up so we all went back up to be social and wait for the rest of the crew. Dad gave me a tour of the front of the property and what’s going to be happening there when all the property disputing is over. I sat in the shade petting Chloe and watched the girls jump on the tramp when Auntie Heidi, Hailey and Casey showed up. We helped unload then sat down to snack some more. We all headed back down to the pond to relax in the sun and watched UB throw sticks for Ryder. We all floated around on air mattresses and inner tubes then Aubs and UB started digging a path down to the water for Grandma, Papa and AH, also because I had fallen the weekend before. The air mattress UB was using kept flying up into his face and we all laughed for a long time at that one. When we were done Grandma and Papa had showed up and we brought up the inflate-ables then Mom and AH started making dinner. It was so good, we had bacon wrapped hamburgers, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes, AH’s famous salad, cornbread, rolls and fruit salad. We were all so full we didn’t even have dessert and everyone raved about the cornbread, especially Aubs who ate about 6 pieces. Kassie hadn’t shown up by 10:15 so we drove down the road to get reception and the girls had a bunch of texts and messages from some busboy’s gf who was mad that the girls had given him their numbers. We messed with him for a little bit and got some laughs then on our way to the Plain Grocery (to get reliable reception) when we passed Kassie so we knew she was ok, sent a few more texts, referring to the guy’s Mom then went home to sit by the campfire. We watched Y Tu Mama Tambien in the loft before bed and only a couple of us made it all the way to the end then we all crashed out.

Tuesday 7/25, After work Susan and I were hanging out and I told her I was going to the Grant Lee Phillips show by myself and she said that she would be interested in going too cause someone she knew was opening. I made cornbread to take over to Leavenworth then Susan and I got ready and headed out around 8:30 and passed Red on the way where I saw Sean washing someone’s hair, then we found a parking spot on 4th and I did such a good job parking I was so proud of myself. Susan was less impressed because I drove up on the curb. We scoped out Clive Christian (I’ve decided he’s my new bf) and then made our way to the Crocodile. We went in and found a booth in the back where we rated guys on two scales: 1) the cuteness scale and 2) the make-out-able-ness of the guy. For me a lot of the ratings went like this: 7.5 / 9. Obviously I’m not very picky about who I will make-out with. We watched one of the bouncers go into the men’s room every 5 minutes and ended up laughing each and every time he did. I joked that I would tell Andy that I had to resort to making out with a bouncer from the Crocodile and see if he has anything to say to that. The opener wasn’t really our thing so we walked around for a while then came back in and sat by the bathrooms where we continued to rate guys, mostly 0’s unfortunately as the night went on. Then all of a sudden a little rotund man hurried by us into the bathroom and I was all “Was that Grant Lee?!” but Susan didn’t know so I got a better look after he came out (which took a while, we think there was a No. 2 involved) but couldn’t tell so we vowed to look at the color shirt he was wearing once he got on stage, and it was him! Yay! He played a great set with a lot of old Grant Lee Buffalo hits and his stage banter was hilarious. He said something about love at one point and that the song he was beginning to play was sneaking up on us like love does, and then it strangles you in your sleep. So funny. He had us laughing the whole time. It ended around 12:30 I think and we headed home and to bed.

Monday 7/24, I went home after work and made some phone calls to Kassie, Chrystol, Rose and sent an email to Alishia. I was busy. I helped Susan with her bed frame and she rewarded me with strawberries after dinner. My room was way too hot so I spent a large amount of time downstairs. Susan taught me how to make scrambled eggs and we shared those yummy strawberries afterward. We watched our usual shows and both signed up to be in the wheel watchers club then both went in our rooms. I sat right in front of the fan until I went to bed and enjoyed the coolness while I read my book. I’m almost to page 500 and my next chapter is American Samoa. Bring it. I had a dream about Andy but he was really unattractive and was wearing Velcro shoes. I wonder what my subconscious is trying to tell me…
