Sunday 8/13, I woke up around 9:30 again and heard the neighbor ask Chris what had happened with the water the night before as he was hosing down the deck and he was all “Uh, I don’t know” so we all started laughing in the loft, it was funny. We all got up and at em because they wanted to go down the river again but we started discussing how Richie had been moaning and groaning in his sleep and we all were in hysterics rolling around on our air mattresses. So pretty soon we started giving each other nicknames and Richie became Barnyard Boy and was also compared to a mama bear because of his style of moaning, then Kyky said he always wanted to be Karl and I was all “Hot Karl?” and he was like “Yeah!” and us three girls all started laughing so hard, I don’t think I could breathe, so we explained what a “Hot Carl” is and then explained it to Neil too. I was shocked that I knew what it was and the gay boys didn’t. So funny, then we were going to come up with one for Neil and I shouted “Sweet Ass!” though I don’t know if that one will catch on. I certainly think it’s appropriate. Eventually they all got ready and when I stumbled out the neighbor that was snarky to me the previous night about the kids was over and apologized to me and said he didn't realize how many kids were over and that I had done the right thing. So that was nice. All the "kids" were gone by 11:30 so Kay-See and I took that opportunity to go down to the Plain Hardware and Grocery to look around and buy totally unnecessary trinkets and ice cream. We sat first outside the Plain Grocery and checked out some cute guys in a Tahoe then walked over to see the chickens and llama, then over to the porch swing at the hardware store, which was so nice and, we determined, the perfect porch swing. I’m going to get Dad right on top of making one. We leisurely drove back and I started tidying up a little bit then laid in the sun with Kay-See. All the kids came back and we relaxed for a little while longer before beginning the clean up process. Everyone pitched in and were all so helpful that it went so quickly and we were out of there right at 1:30, which is when I wanted to be out. We headed to the 59er Diner and had lunch there, Kay-See and I split a fantastic chicken sandwich. We had more laughs around the table then hit the bathrooms, said goodbye and took off over the mountain. We got stuck in traffic but it wasn’t as bad as the last time. I dropped Kay-See off and she gave me some viewing material for my personal pleasure. I went straight to Mom’s for dinner and had burgers and told them about my week earlier, then around 8:00 headed home where I got some stories from Susan and filled her in on mine. I was exhausted, needed a shower and couldn’t wait to see the pictures that Hot Karl and Billy the Pelvis got on our fantastic weekend!
Saturday 8/12, We got up around 9:30, ate some muffins and donuts (thanks Kyky!), some people showered, got our suits on and wandered outside into the SUNSHINE! The only thing I wanted to accomplish that day was laying in the sun to work on my tan, eat ice cream and eat at Gustav’s for dinner. We all walked down to the river then everyone kind of did their own thing. Kay-See, AGF and I all laid on the deck and read while the others took the tubes and their stuff down to the river. Neil and Kyky went to the Plain Grocery for some food and when they came back they said they saw a guy that was “Just Plain Hot” so that was the theme for the rest of the weekend. Very funny. It was a really relaxing morning and afternoon and got even quieter when Richie, Neil, Chris and Cory decided to take one of the rafts and the tubes down the river so the three of us hung at the place and were going to cross the river. Kyky’s sandals took off down the river however so I ran down the bank and managed to catch one of them, but the other was gone. We decided to scrap that idea and sit in the swimming hole instead but had a hard time wrangling Percival into staying with us, but managed with a game of fetch. AGF went to watch for the friends while Kay-See and I stayed in the hole and relaxed until some neighbor children came and disrupted our peace and quiet. Kyky came down and was like, “Are you kidding me?” and Kay-See shot him a look like “Tell me about it!” so finally I told them if they were going to be over there they had to get their parents and luckily that took care of them. Hee hee heee! I’m so mean. Kyky and I sat on a log by the river for a little bit with the red towel and watched the passing rafters and tried to look like we weren’t a couple so we could pick up cute guys together. I told him to just keep saying “Yeah girlfriend!” so people would know. It was really funny and just nice to sit and relax there in that beautiful setting. That might be one of the highlights of my trip, it was just so beautiful. I decided to go back up and shower so that when everyone got back I could be out of the way so we could all get ready and go to dinner. My shower felt so good and I was ready to go by the time the others got back and started getting ready. Richie told me I smelled fantastic but I pointed out that it was probably Kay-See's lotion that smelled good too, not just my freshly bathed body. I think I giggled and blushed when he said it. We set off for the Plain Grocery where some of us got some pre-dinner ice cream, I got the Chocolate Brownie Thunder and it was PHENOMENAL! Kyky, Kay-See and I all danced and sang in the car all the way to Leavenworth, especially when VENGA BOYS came on! We found parking and went to Gustav’s where we had a very short wait before being seated upstairs on the deck. It was a beautiful and perfect evening, the temperature was wonderful, the sun had just dipped behind the mountain and the company was fantastic. Everyone got their cameras out and began taking pictures and both Kay-See and AGF got really great ones, some of which I have posted on my myspace. The food was good as always and afterward we walked to the candy shop and right as I walked in Richie smacked my ass so hard, we both laughed really hard especially at his technique, he nailed it right in the middle rather than opting for one cheek or the other, he got it smack dab in the middle. Then we all headed out across the street and Richie and I began strolling arm in arm and talking about being in the “Romance Capital” of Washington and coming back in 20 years together and strolling the Strasse and how romantic it would be…for me anyway. It was really nice, we just looked at each other and laughed and smiled, so fun. Pretty soon we were on our way back to the property with Kyky driving like a bat out of hell on the windy road, it reminded me of being in high school when you’re out with your friends in the summertime and having so much fun that you never want it to end. It’s hard to explain, but it was a fantastic feeling, makes me smile right now. When we got back was another story, I felt like I was in high school but in a different way, like I’d had a party and something got broken, since that’s kind of what happened. First though I had to tell the neighbors two doors down to get their kids off of our play structure cause no one was watching them and there were like 12 of them, ack! The Dad was kind of a dick, but sorry, I don’t know what to tell you, I’m not going to be liable for your kids if they break in half or something. Anyway, ok, so we get back and all lay down on our beds and I put in Half Baked so we can all veg for a little bit then I went to get some water out of the sink upstairs and it wouldn’t turn on, neither would the shower and neither would the spigot on the deck. Shit. Richie was great and was helping me with everything and walking around trying to figure shit out, asking the neighbor, flipping breakers and reading pressure gauges. I realized that Morey wouldn’t be home for a while since I’d seen him at Gustav’s before we left. Richie insisted on going with me when I went to call Dad from the Plain Grocery and it was so cute as we both acted out simultaneously what needed to be done as Dad gave me the instructions, thank God for Dad, you know?! I assured him that everything else was fine and he told me not to worry that his explanation should fix the problem and then said “Tell Richie he’s a good guy” it was so cute, then we drive back and we had really great conversations about our Dads, carpentry and stuff, home ownership, mortgages and our friends’ relationships. I fell a little bit more in love with Richie that night. We got back and the other neighbors saw that we’d been having water problems and offered up their hose, which was very sweet so I told them if we needed to I would come back over. Richie and I went in and started fiddling with things and thought we’d gotten it back on when Kyky ran down and exclaimed “The shower just came on!” Yay! We fixed it! What a relief. So I went over to tell the neighbors and ended up talking with them for about an hour, Dick and Linda, very very nice people. By the time I got back out, the movie was over and everyone had woken back up, yes, they had all fallen asleep, minus Kyky, and were now congregating around the campfire that Richie had once again masterfully constructed. We sat out there for a long time again just talking and playing “Best and Worst” then Neil and Chris went to bed and Richie convinced us to play 4 rounds of Blink Murder or something and luckily I wasn’t the murderer in any of the rounds but Kay-See did kill me in one, but I did a bad job of dying and gave her away. Whoops. Then in the last round Richie exclaimed that he tried to kill me like 4 times but I didn’t see him, whoops. Finally all of us turned in except Richie and Cory again and I crashed out, didn’t even wake up when they came in.
Friday 8/11, Peggy let me leave even earlier than normal, at 3:00 so I went home and changed quickly then dashed up to Kirkland to pick up my tile. Mario was very chatty for once and wanted to know all about what I was doing over the weekend…it was a little weird, but I’ll just assume he was being nice and not sleazy. I then headed down to the bank to cash in some savings bonds which had all reached maturity and accrued interest, yay! I then drove across the street to Kay-See’s and proceeded to nap in my car while I waited in her underground parking garage. I was tired from the night before. When she got there we loaded my tile into her trunk and her groceries into mine then went upstairs to marinate the chicken that Kay-See had planned for dinner. I filled her in on the prior evening’s events and soon we were out the door. We hit Trader Joe’s for more camping fare then booked it over the mountains. We got there around 8:00 I think and fired up the grill right away, though neither of us really had any idea what we were doing with the charcoal grill and resorted to reading the directions and asking the hot-neighbor dad. My solution was to keep squirting lighter fluid on the coals whenever they started to go out. Kay-See couldn’t even see me doing it but I could tell by her laughter that she knew exactly when I was giving the coals another good soaking. Soon we got the food all kebob-d up and on but it was getting dark and I couldn’t find a flashlight so I dug one out of my trunk and we used that for our preparation. We had gotten some chairs and tables out and tried to light the tiki torches but other than that it was pretty scattered. AGF, Richie and Cory showed up and said Neil and Chris would be coming this evening after all so we were going to be a full house. We ate all the food up and eventually Kay-See and Richie left to drive and look for Neil and Chris, they all made it and we began our preparation of the campfire. Richie and I took a walk down to the water with the flashlight to look for kindling and found some in the other fire pit and were like “This is some good shit, let’s get it all!” and just laughed the whole time. It makes me happy to think how much fun we were having just picking up sticks and logs in the pitch black and avoiding getting spiders on the twigs we were getting. We finally stumbled back up and Richie began constructing one of his masterful creations. We all sat around the campfire talking and laughing for a long time, I was the only one that got asked a truth or dare for the whole weekend and I later made a joke that we should all try to fulfill my question before the end of the weekend, I’m pretty sure no one did though…Anyway, all of us finally went up around 1:00 or so except Richie and Cory and snuggled into bed. I slept perfectly except for Kay-See’s alarm going off at 5:30 or whatever :)
