Sunday 2/25, I woke up at 7:30 again and couldn’t fall back asleep so I got up and started my day. I got dressed and ready then headed to the store for grocery shopping and on my way home Kay-See called about brunch and asked if we could move it up a little so I dropped my groceries then headed over to her house and picked her up. We decided it would be a good idea to call ahead to get our name on the always long list of names, and Justin (Bun) answered and told me very succinctly that they didn’t do that and I told Kay-See afterward that I should have told him to let me speak to Michael. We arrived to no wait and Michael was right there so he was like “Sit in my section!” so we did and it was so fun and he talked about watching his “sports” such as tennis and women’s billiards, so I said “Rack em bitch!” We decided not to split something in celebration of the fact that there was no wait…like it was a sign or something, so I got the Ham Ramble Scramble or something and Kay-See got the mushroom omelet with gruyere, yum! Michael took many breaks to sit and chat with us and he asked our opinion on a boy issue then said that maybe soon we could go get breakfast / brunch together. Kay-See and I talked about religion and how it’s changed and almost has to change with society for it to continue to exist…or something. We had fun talking about boys again and about my theory that I’m Eric’s “Jake” aka a nice girl, but that I’m not a good girl to everyone, like my ex-bfs, essentially, it depends on the person to determine who you’re a good girl to…but that maybe I’m just too vanilla to Eric, not enough edge. Michael came back and asked us what we were doing for the rest of the day and I told him hanging out with my cat and he suggested dressing up for the Oscars then I suggested putting Jacques in a tux and then he suggested crafting a little red carpet and make J walk down it and take his picture. Then Kay-See asked Michael what he was doing and he said some friend was having a birthday party and that Eric was going to be there then asked if I’d talked to him lately and I was like “Well…” and told him about Friday night and that I had just wanted to convey to Eric that I didn’t hate him and I hoped he doesn’t hate me and he said “He knows, and no, he doesn’t. No need to call him anymore, just call me and I’ll tell you” or something like that. It was a lot of fun and it made me excited for next week. I drove Kay-See home then called Chrystol and told her I would call her later to see if they would be around then called Susan to see if she wanted to hang out. We took off for downtown and after cutting a guy off to get a parking spot we were on our way downtown on foot. Urban Outfitters first where we said hi to Brett (hot!), then Anthropologie, Nordstrom for some MAC makeup, Victoria’s Secret (no Heather) for my free pair of underwear that I ended up not wanting because it was, as Susan put it, butt floss, then down to Barnes and Noble and eventually made our way back to the car and made it in one piece despite Susan stepping on multiple loose cobblestones and soaking her feet and jeans. We headed back up to Capitol Hill, found parking, walked to American Apparel then over to Broadway Grill so Susan could get some lunch and I could continue to stuff my face with a completely unnecessary and undeserved piece of Snickers cheesecake (they were out of the cobbler, or so our waiter said…Susan thinks he was just saving the last piece for himself for his lunch break). I asked the girl behind us if I could use her mustard and she was so pissed off, I was like, um, is she serious? Lighten the fuck up. It was really bizarre and Susan said she kept rolling her eyes, even after I returned it to her in pristine condition. I thought our waiter hated me then he comes over and starts chatting away about the Oscars and MTV awards and all this other random shit then walked away and Susan and I just looked at each other like, what was that?! Susan suggested writing my number on one of the dollar bills, but I thought he was gay, so I didn’t. Plus he had a little ponytail. Yeah, no. We packed up and hit Vivace where we happily found Teal and he was so sweet to us and said we’d see him Thursday. There was this crazy lady in line in front of us who was making conversation with the girls in front of her about the tread of their three inch tall industrial style goth boots. V. random. We headed back to Susan’s and I was off to Chrystol and Schuyler’s where I was promised I would find a naked Jason but when I arrived I was sadly disappointed, plus B was there which disappointed me even more, but I love how hideous his facial hair is and C and S tease him that he copied Leonardo DiCaprio’s facial hair. I hung out there for about an hour or a little more watching the various pre-Oscars’ shows and talking about making out with Cate Blanchett. Austin showed up with Bloc the Jack Russell and we laughed about how he hates B. I eventually left and called Court on the way there and we talked about our cats and various wedding plans. I put Forrest Gump on and vegged out while J ran around in the hall. I went to bed relatively early after watching a few episodes of Miami Ink.
Saturday 2/24, I couldn’t find J when I woke up but eventually found him under my bed but he didn’t want to come out. I went and got gas at Costco then some chap stick at PCC. When I got home I went for my short walk, I wanted to go on my long one but it was raining pretty heavily so I decided against it and was soaked by the time I got home anyway. I showered and got ready for the day with plans to get my bridesmaid dress altered but they didn’t answer so I watched tv and sat in my room instead. Around 1:30 I left, found it fine and hopefully the woman is a miracle worker because the dress looks terrible on me. I called Chrystol on my way home and made plans to hang out later in the evening, then called home to see what time dinner was and to see if Alix and Jake wanted to come over to meet the cat and to hang out. They came over and played with the cat for a while then we went to Dairy Queen for blizzards and I flirted with the blizzarder behind the counter while Alix and Jake cringed. When we got home we put on Back to the Future and watched it until it was time to go to Mom’s for dinner where we had a beef and veggie stew over basmati rice and Filipino rice cake for dessert then finished our movie. I talked to Mom for a long time after dinner about goals for this year and moving / changing jobs / selling my house / etc. Kay-See called and was headed home so I told her to meet me at my house so we could hang out. We talked about the cat, Eric, nice guys then Chrystol and Schuyler showed up and the four of us talked, mostly about the cat, and laid around on the floor. Kay-See left when her allergies flared up and the three of us continued talking until almost midnight then I watched SNL for a little while and fell asleep.
Friday 2/23, I took Jacques to a vet appointment during the day and his health seemed to check out. I was feeling a bit impulsive as I drove home from work and started formulating what I wanted to say to Eric’s voicemail. I relaxed when I got home and continued to formulate and play with J. Around 9 I called Eric and, horror of horrors, he answered…I hadn’t anticipated this happening, I figured he would screen and let it go to voicemail. I told him I didn’t expect him to answer then asked him if he was at work, he wasn’t, then he asked me if I wanted to call back, and I asked “To leave a message?” and he was like, “Well yeah, unless you just called for shits and giggles” so I said ok, hung up, called him back and left my choreographed message. I didn’t really expect him to call back but I felt I needed him to know a few things and how I felt, so there you have it. I called Susan right after and confessed what I’d just done then we talked for a while. I eventually ended up in my room for bed and decided to leave Jacques out and, surprise of surprises, he didn’t keep me up all night and behaved himself by staying off my bed. Yay!
Thursday 2/22, I exchanged Jacques’ toy thingy to Pet Smart for a carrier and scratching post then I don’t really remember what I did at home but it probably involved overeating at dinner time and playing with Jacques until it was time to get ready for Neighbours. The OC finale was on and I cried like a little baby at the end, surprisingly I found out I wasn’t the only one since my 16 year old sister and all her friends did the same thing. I had to touch up my makeup after that then talked to Susan and decided to meet up in our usual parking place. We made haste because it was so damn cold and when we got up to the front we saw Neil, Richie, Cory and another girl whose name I’ve since forgotten, come out of the club to smoke. I got a hug from Neil and he called me Babycakes then got a hug from Richie and he complimented me on my cookies again which made me blush. It was cold so Susan and I decided to head in and got the usual hugs then Beau touched my back when I said hello to him then discussed going to Maui with Travers and Susan. We checked our coats, did an armpit lint check and headed to do a lap. We saw Tye who was wearing super short spandex and a tight top, all black and white, went over to say hi and he dipped me, and since I’ve never been dipped I didn’t know exactly what to do, but went with it. We went upstairs to watch the crowd then I felt someone pinch my butt, hard, and looked over to see Neil looking very pleased with himself. Meee-ow! Susan and I eventually went down to our usual area and started dancing it up but there were some rowdy idiots, you know, straight sorority / frat types, which thoroughly irritated Susan and me all night. Teal and Darren showed up at some point and got a kiss from Teal then talked astrology for a minute before they took off. Jeff kept coming over and dancing with us and we didn’t know what to think about it, but when some enthusiastic gay guy tried to hit on him Jeff came running to us for help and I gladly distracted him. He yelled “He’s cute for being straight!” and we conversed and danced together with glee for the next couple songs. I think Jeff was grateful and Susan couldn’t stop laughing at us. He thought I was from the Mid-West and told me he was from O-H-I-O. Some guy tried to dance with Susan and me so we both stopped dancing, looked at him, looked back at each other and just stood there. He got the point real quick. We decided to take off at the same time and hurried to our cars then drove home and went to bed.
Wednesday 2/21, I stayed a little late at work and talked with Sue when I got home about attending the home owner’s meeting together. I made a little dinner and went to feed Jacques but found he had chewed through the bag while I was gone and must have consumed parts of the bag because I couldn’t find them. I gave him a little more food thinking he must be starving if he’s chewing through a heavy duty plastic cat food bag…needless to say the cat food was locked up after that. Pretty soon it was time to go to the meeting so we walked over and I’d like to quickly forget the next two hours that took place, what with all the homeowner bickering, 5% dues increase and a $3,000 new assessment. Joy! After coming back home I gave J a little attention and did a few chores before going up to my room and getting ready for bed.
Tuesday 2/20, I got home late from working and was so incredibly relieved to find my home in one piece, having left Jacques free to roam around the entire house, minus Kassie’s room. I fixed him a yummy dinner complete with some of Grandma’s pot pie and hair ball gel, yum! I sat on the couch for most the night watching tv and encouraging J not to jump up on the couch and scratch on the corner. I tried to let him roam the house for bed time but he jumped up on the bed, and though I’ve been removing him each time, I just left him because I was so tired, but soon he was out making noise and meowing so I shut him out of my room. This didn’t work and he just sat at the door meowing louder so I finally got up and put him in the bathroom where I can’t hear him. I got plenty of sleep after that.
Monday 2/19, I got up semi-early again because K and S were up and getting ready to leave so I let J out and kept him corralled in my room away from Rosco. They took off and I vacuumed and let J roam around and played with his new cat nip frog and egg plant from Auntie Kassie. I showered and got ready then I went down the lake for a few hours and left J outside the bathroom to test how he would do without me there, and thankfully he did just fine and I didn’t find anything bad when I returned. I watched a little tv and talked to Susan then set out to get J a scratching post, but, of course, ended up buying much more than that. I hit the grocery store after that and chatted with Dustin then went home and watched Brokeback Mountain and talked to Chrystol and Mom while Jacques slept in his new bed. I cried at the end, of course, then made some dinner as J tried my patience. I watched I Love NY and brushed Jacques in the final minutes of the show and I still can’t believe how much he loves it. I tried to have him not in the bathroom for the night but after jumping up on my bed about 25 times and me taking him down and putting him on his own bed, I decided I didn’t want to be up all night removing him and / or sharing my bed with him so I put him back in the bathroom and decided to try again the next night. Hopefully it will just be a matter of him getting used to my ironclad regime policies.
Sunday 2/18, I woke up early because K and S were up and I started puttering around the house and prepped to get ready to go to Kay-See’s for our Sunday morning breakfast event. I got there right at 10 and Kay-See finished getting ready and we took off for Ballard. I got dropped off to put our name in and the guy told me less time than the guy in front of me, mwah ha ha, he must have remembered me from last week. We weren’t seated in Michael’s section but that was ok because we got an equally cute waiter, Zack, to get us all hot and bothered. I got a hug from Michael and we were in a prime spot to chat with him as he passed by to the kitchen as well as keep my eye on the toast boy who was a little thuggish but very cute. I asked Zack which rumble he recommended so I went with the Ballard Market but I still want to try the other one and, like, everything else on the menu. We decided to do girls brunch every weekend so we’ll see how many of the items we can tick off our HL checklist. We went back to Kay-See’s so I could look up the address of an open house I wanted to see and we walked over. On the way we stopped in Retrofit and perused the cool furniture and cute rugs then saw the loft-y 2 story condo and both really liked it. Plus the cookies helped. We walked back and decided to go to Target and I ended up spending too much money on stuff I didn’t need, but oh well. When we got back I drove home to let Jacques out of the bathroom and whip up the zucchini and tomato quiche for the night’s dinner. Jacques was misbehaving a bit, I’m guessing because I wasn’t paying attention to him, but since I rule with an iron fist I told Jacques there had been a regime change and put him in the bathroom for a time out. I finished the dish then sat down to watch some tv and brush J, which he absolutely loved. Pretty soon it was time to put him back in the bathroom and head off to Mom’s for dinner. Kassie surprised everyone (except me) for dinner and luckily Mom made extra and we had a rousing round of Best and Worst. Mom made brownies for dessert and we sat around talking about the new pets and such then I took off to go to Kay-See’s for a movie. We went into the common room and started trying to hook up the tv and I eventually called Dad who helped us through it and started watching Snatch and eating Australian candy. Kay-See really liked it then sent me home with some chocolate treats. I got J out of the bathroom and played with him a little before putting him back in there around 12:30 for bed. Kassie and Skylar came home and she showed me the new toys for J and went to bed.
Saturday 2/17, I talked to Susan first thing in the morning and told her to come over and meet Jacques. I was doing some serious cleaning of the downstairs, talked to Dad about the new cat and finished up right when she called to say she was coming over. I hopped in the shower and finished right when she showed up. The camera came out right away and Jacques sassed it up for Susan. After a petting session we decided to hit the pet store in Issaquah and I ended up dropping $130 on toys and supplies and Auntie Susan bought him a semi-red star with a bell to attach to his collar so he can advertise his new communist affiliation. All his new toys are hot pink too to satisfy his gay / French lifestyle. We went next door to the smoothie place and each got a tasty treat, though I liked Susan’s blueberry one better than my peach. When we got back I brushed him then wiped him down with a little moist pet-nap and we saddled him up with his new sassy red harness, or walking jacket. He didn’t really like it, but he didn’t fall over so I don’t think he hated it. We took him outside to the back patio so he could explore a little but he ran back inside so I had to bring him back out again so he could get used to it. We played inside for a little while longer and chatted in the living room until Susan decided to leave to take a nap. I watched Closer and fell asleep and Jacques did too on his pillow in the window. I stayed in for the rest of the night watching tv and playing with the cat then Kassie and Skylar showed up around 1:00 so I talked with them for a while then went to bed.
Friday 2/16, I drove straight to the Humane Society after work and Kay-See called to ask what I was doing and I told her and she said “I knew it!” I got down there and one of the girls told me to gather the paperwork for each of the cats I liked so I did that then went over each one with the girl that reminds me of Chrystol. The older lady started bringing them in one by one and first up was Cleo, who liked to play and was a bit aloof and all white. Then Bijou who was very overweight but a black which I was leaning toward, and lastly Meowser who was also black and also somewhat aloof. I decided impulsively to just go with Meowser without visiting with Daisy or Mon Cher. I felt guilty for not choosing three of the other ones but decided they all had traits I didn’t know if I was prepared to deal with…so I went with the “easy” choice: Meowser. My paperwork was started and I chatted with some of the girls, picked out some of the supplies I would need for the night and completed the adoption. Everyone was excited that a black one was going home. Originally I wanted a tortoiseshell colored cat or an orange one but then I realized that color is really irrelevant and it’s not about a generic preference, it’s about adopting an animal that needs a home and will be most compatible with me and my lifestyle (multiple same sex life partners). I called Kay-See on my way home to give her the news and firm up plans for the evening and she could hear Jacques meowing and asked if she could come meet him, I said of course and that Chrystol had called to see what I was doing too so I would invite her over for a girls movie night or something. When I got home I let him out in the bathroom to keep him contained then set up the litter box so he wouldn’t pee all over the place. I tried to tidy up a little bit then decided to let him out to explore a little. I started making a salad for dinner and he jumped up on the counter (as his paperwork stated he was likely to do) so I promptly removed him and continued making my salad. He continued to jump up many times but I took care of it and ended up shutting him back in the bathroom. Pretty soon Kay-See showed up so I let him out and she asked if she could be his godmother and I said of course. We went into the living room to hang out and play with the cat. Chrystol ended up calling and cancelling but it was ok because we had tater gems baking away in the oven which easily distracted us. We soon got the movie going (Wedding Crashers) and eventually broke out the caramel pralines and cream yogurt something ice cream, needless to say it was delicious. Auntie Kay-See had to remove Jacques from the couch countless times and said that if he were her cat she would let him, so I told him that when he goes to visit Auntie Kay-See that she will let him up on her leather couch and she was soon singing a different tune. It was really fun and she seems to adore her godcat so that’s fantastic. After the movie she took off and I put Jacques in the bathroom for the night so that he wouldn’t chew on plants, pee on the carpet, scratch the couch or jump on the counters. I felt guilty but that’s what the lady at the HS said to do so I figured it was for his own good. And my sanity. I was asleep by about 11:30.
Thursday 2/15, It was family night as I talked to my dad, mom, other mom and Kassie all in the span of an hour and a half. First up was Mom who warned me against adopting a cat, but I reminded her that there have been amazing technological advances since the 70’s, zing! Then I talked to Dad who was pretty excited about me adopting a pet, which totally shocked me, then Mom called a minute after Dad because she was driving her Valentine’s Day present with Aubrie down the Pacific Coast Hwy and thought I would appreciate it, and lastly Kassie who told me about a little cat her and S took in and that she’ll be picking up her Great Dane rescue puppy sometime next week. Made plans with Susan to call after 10, the official ending time of OC, which I must say was an excellent episode and almost had me in tears. Shut it. I got ready and took off to meet Susan then sat in my car while I listened to her scream sweet nothings into my ear (“Ugh, I’m going to fucking kill you!” and “Where the fuck are you?”). We walked over and ran into Beau in Travers’ place so I said “You’re not Travers! You’re Beau!” and he was shocked I remembered him, then I said, boy do you even remember me? He’s like yeah, and Andy? and I’m like “Oh yeah…Andy...” sigh. We didn’t dally much longer and soon found out that Dick was already there, unfortunately. I knew Michael wouldn’t be there because he had a trip down south, but we were both hoping for some of the other boys to show up, especially Kyle. I saw the hottest guy go into the bathroom and vowed to figure out his bottom line by the end of the night. We went upstairs where we quickly spotted my old bf that dances all over the place and makes a minimum of 4 costume changes while he prances around the club. I love him, but am also simultaneously terrified he will try to dance with me, so we keep our distance and watch him dance with other people. We made our way down to the floor and tried to avoid Dick’s hopeful glances, and started getting down to the string of awesome songs Von Trapp was playing. I was dancing ridiculously and cracking Susan up then Teal showed up and the first thing he said was “I totally know who your sister is…I can’t believe you two are from the same gene pool!” The three of us danced forever and were having so much fun, especially when Susan’s beer started to foam a little so Teal was like, “Here, don’t worry” and bumps the bottom of Susan’s beer on the top of his and beer goes EVERYWHERE and we all started laughing hysterically. When Von Trapp played a bad song Teal went off to get a drink. I saw Kyle earlier so we knew he was around somewhere and were anxiously awaiting a little Kyle time. We decided to do a lap and found him wearing a very cute half argyle /half solid sweater vest with tie and short sleeved button up shirt. Hot. We talked about how much fun we had in the old days and he asked about Kassie and was laughing because he burned her with his cigarette and she smoked him out that one time. Then he said he loves my myspace pictures and that I look like “a fuckin supermodel” lately. That made me happy and both Susan and I were flattered when he told us we really class up the place. Soon we were on our way back to the dance floor then ran into Kyle again and danced with him for a couple songs. We noticed Teal’s bf showed up then Susan started neighing and dubbed herself a “haunted horse” which we laughed at forever. We saw Teal and bf dancing on the other side of the floor so we went over to join them but we might have been crashing something because there was a little awkwardness and standoffishness on Teal’s part. Anyway, when I decided to leave Susan walked me to the coat check then to the door, I said bye to the boys and ran to my car.
Wednesday 2/14, Happy Valentine’s Day! Ha, hardly. I went to the Humane Society after work but had to sit in traffic forever, seriously, then looked at all the cats, made a list of 5 and talked with the girl working the front counter. It absolutely breaks my heart to see how many animals are in there, vying for attention or crouched in these tiny cages, while people out there are still spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on purebred animals. It made me want to cry a few times…but I didn’t…it’s seriously depressing though. I’m going to go back, I just don’t know if it will be tomorrow or Friday, or maybe the weekend. We’ll see. When I got home I made a salad then reheated my delicious zucchini dish and ate a ton of it. Talked to Susan for quite a while, then Mom for a few minutes, then Kay-See. I eventually made it upstairs to shower and relax.
Tuesday 2/13, Worked late to make some extra $ then went to the store and picked up items to make my zucchini and tomato casserole recipe. When I got home I got started on it right away, and let me say that it was not only really easy it didn’t take any time to prep. The best part is it tasted wonderful. It was so delicious I ate almost half of the 10” finished product. I watched some Teen Jeopardy and picked out my favorite hot teen then did a little more cat research and eventually ended up in my room watching reruns of I <3 NY and talking to Susan on the phone. Finished W before going to bed.
Monday 2/12, Spent some time down the lake and got home a little before 8. Ate some veggies and an apple for dinner then went up to my room, watched some tv then talked to Susan and went to bed.
Sunday 2/11, I woke up around 7 again and decided to get up and go for a walk and it felt so good listening to Gorillaz and walking in the rain, I couldn’t do anything but smile while I strutted through my workout. When I returned I backed my car out of the garage and began rearranging and hauling stuff down, swept all the shit up and overall got everything organized. It was fantastic. Did some laundry then noticed I had missed Kay-See’s call so called her back and we made plans to go into Ballard because she had to hit Fred Meyer and I suggested we go to a fantastic establishment where my bf Michael works. I jumped into the shower and got ready in record time and to Kay-See’s a little before noon. I picked her up and we headed into Ballard, parked and walked over to HL to put our name in. We had a little wait but our request to sit in Michael’s section was granted. I got the Fancy French Toast and it was delicious (two days in a row of scrumptious breakfast food) as was Kay-See’s omelet and those potatoes, oh my, those potatoes! We had great conversation and even better food and scenery (Michael) and made plans for next Sunday. We said bye to our hot waiter then headed down to Sonic Boom where I bought a Smashing Pumpkins single and the Editors cd, then we continued down that side of the street, across at the end then back up the other side stopping in random little shops and being good by not buying anything. Well, except we stopped in the cupcake shop and got a red velvet with cream cheese frosting then continued on our way to Ballard Ave stopping in random boutiques and furniture shops, one of which was the shop with the chair I have loved for a year+ and Kay-See approved, but we moved on quickly. Went down to Ok Ok, walked back up to the car and headed down to Golden Gardens for a drive by. We hit Fred Meyer for a few things then did a drive by of the Palisades and eventually headed back to Kay-See’s where I dropped her off. I drove home and looked at the Humane Society website for a furry friend that both Susan and Kay-See are urging me to acquire. I went over to Mom’s for dinner with a detour to pick up Jake and we had enchiladas with spinach tortillas, yum! Then we had homemade berry cobbler and it was wonderful. I talked with Grandma a little after dinner then took off. Called Courtney on the way there and got an update from her on wedding plans and other things then watched tv and settled into bed. I didn’t really pay attention to Desperate Housewives because I was sending Michael pictures and doing other computer-y things. Read a little then went to sleep before 11.
Saturday 2/10, At 7:07 K and S got the shower running and as I was attempting to fall back asleep found it impossible so I got up about 15 minutes later. I noticed Kay-See’s cookies were missing off the counter so I took my cereal upstairs and rapped on the door three times and grumbled “Where are my cookies?” Skylar cowered in fear but I told him it was ok. We all sat and talked for about an hour then they finally rolled out and I decided to climb back into bed to watch some OC, called Susan to make some plans for later and finally pulled my ass out of bed for good and went through a huge box of clippings in the living room. About one I took off to Susan’s and we started walking toward Volunteer Park. I saw the house that I used to be in love with when B and I were dating and it brought back all sorts of memories though I didn’t have much time to dwell because soon we were in the park and enjoying the scenery. We climbed the water tower and took some pictures then moseyed down toward the, um, place where they keep all the plants…I don’t remember what it’s called. We were so hot in there that the pictures we took were pretty funny, plus looking at all the plants and flowers was fun. I think the hydrangeas and orchids are my favorite. We headed back to Susan’s and stopped at the bakery but decided to go to Costal Cafe instead to get a late lunch. We made fun of the disgruntle couple in line ahead of us and eventually got seated in the back. I ordered the goat cheese rumble which included caramelized onions, sage and spinach and was one of the most delicious things I’ve had in a long time. To show how much I loved it I ate the whole damn thing. After we got out of there we went over to Sonic Boom where I bought two used cds: Beaulah and Graham Coxon and also the Good, the Bad and the Queen. We then went to QFC so I could get Seattle magazine and find Sean’s blip (he won Best Up and Coming Stylist) but also took the opportunity to buy a donut which I quickly regretted because I was so full. Bleh. We walked back to Susan’s but I took off shortly afterward because we both wanted to nap. I got home around 4, climbed into bed, watched some OC then fell asleep for a little while. When I woke up I didn’t want to get out of bed so I stayed there for the rest of the night and felt incredibly, uselessly lazy. Shame on me. I vowed to get more done the next day.
Friday 2/9, Susan managed to make it to my house before I even left work so I rushed home and found her there laying on my floor sniffing the new carpet. We chatted a little then put the Notebook on to see what all the hype is about (after watching it we still don’t know). I uploaded pictures of Michael and me then started the pizza for our dinner. We both downed half the pizza then Susan broke out the cupcakes for dessert. We lazed on the couch and finished watching the movie then chattered away about boys and the like. We were both extremely tired so S left around 9:30 or so then I did stuff in my room while watching OC until falling asleep before 11.
Thursday 2/8, I took my time getting ready after work, talked to Kay-See about date plans with Trevor, ate some dinner and eventually called Trevor around 8:00. He was rehearsing for a play and said he would call me later in the evening, so I kind of wrote it off. Watched OC, talked to Susan about the evening’s plans and set out a little after 10 to Susan’s house. While we were talking and prepping for Neighbours Michael called me back to say he was getting ready and would be going to Neighbours. I was so excited, probably more excited about Michael showing up than the prospect of Trevor showing up. We decided to head over around 11 and while I was driving Trevor called and we talked until I got there and he wasn’t sure whether or not he would show up but invited me to his show on Saturday night. It was a pretty good convo and Susan called just as I was hanging up and exclaimed “I knew it!” when I told her I was talking to Trevor. We busted ass to Neighbours and saw Seb. walking up just as we were and Susan audibly goes “Uh oh!” and we laughed heartily then greeted all the boys, and I waved to Damon who was in line behind us but he totally didn’t recognize me. As we were standing in the coat check line he came up and apologized and said he was a little slow but it was nice to chat with him for a minute. Susan and I did a lap but no Tye, so we went upstairs to watch people dance and eventually Damon came over and asked us if we wanted to play pool, and though I didn’t, Susan did and I people watched. I noticed Craig show up, and super early by his standards, then noticed “Dick” shuffling around looking for prey. We decided to hit the floor and headed straight for our regular spot and the dancing commenced. Susan kept migrating over toward Dick who was in the middle of a, oh how did Susan put it, Klondike bar. We took a break and were standing against the “Cool Railing” watching people come in and finally Teal and Darren showed up, but we hung back and decided to wait to say hi. A few minutes after they were out of sight we decided to do a lap and saw them up in the back bar so we did hellos and kisses on cheeks, then I brought up Kassie to Teal, but I didn’t get the response I was expecting, but oh well, we went and danced again. Craig ended up dancing right next to where S and I were, so eventually I turned around and acknowledged his presence by giving him a hug then we went back to ignoring him. I kept whining because it was after midnight and Michael hadn’t shown yet, but eventually he did and I was pleased as punch. We had a fabulous time dancing and pressing our pelvis’ together, we were both so sweaty but it was great. He was wearing a little scarf around his neck and I told him it looked “jaunty” and very “Lord of the Manor” then we talked about Eric for a minute and kept dancing. At one point Michael left and Susan was right on his tail to go find Brett and this guy pounced and said “I want to take you out to get a drink sometime” to which I blurted “I don’t drink!” then he goes “Tea!” and I said “I don’t drink that either! I’m making this hard for you aren’t I?” and he says “Water!” then I had to break it to him that I really wasn’t interested and kept willing Michael to get back. When he finally did I pointed the guy out and Michael seemed indifferent but was very enthusiastic about a guy dancing where Tye usually does who was really holding it down, it was awesome and Michael kept laughing and yelling “Yeah, I love that guy!” He yelled into my ear “I’m having so much fun, aren’t you?!” which made me insanely happy. Everyone left again but Teal and Darren came over so I was dancing with them and Teal told me that he thinks I’m really cute and I returned the compliment and told him before him and Susan were friends we’d always talk about how hot he is. Some army looking guy ended up in front of us looking very confused and slightly appalled at the two guys making out next to me, then he grabs my hand to like pull me out to dance with him so as a reflex I grabbed Teal’s arm and yelled “I’m with Teal tonight! I don’t want to dance!” so he dropped my hand and Teal did his best to appear to be straight and dancing with me. I thanked him and he said anytime then eventually Susan and Brett came over and we all danced together (sans Michael who was over on the other side of the dance floor) for quite a few songs. It was getting late so I said my goodbyes then tracked Michael down and said bye to him and got a kiss on the cheek then a hug then a kiss on the lips and they are so soft! Mmm, Michael. Ha, anyway I headed toward the coat check but the guy who had asked me out earlier was standing there so I did a 180º back toward the dance floor when this completely drunk guy grabbed my hand and tried to drag me to the dance floor but I rebuffed him and headed back toward the coat check. I saw Thomas and made a beeline for him and he goes “Karrah!” (I’m still totally shocked that he knows my name) and put his arm around my shoulders and asked what I was doing this weekend. Apparently there’s a documentary at Chop Suey called Fires of Paris or Paris on Fire or something about drag queens and he told me it’s supposed to be really fun and he would possibly be dressing in drag. I told him maybe Susan and I would go, said goodbye to him, got my coat and ran to my car. Didn’t get to bed until 2:00.
I don't know why I called you, but naturally, a girl answered. I could hear you in the background telling her what to say and questions to ask, but making no attempt to keep your voice down so that I wouldn't hear you. I don't know why this girl was talking with a British accent because she clearly wasn't British; maybe it was your way of making fun of me. She eventually asked me if I wanted to talk to you, and though I figured the answer was obvious (after all, I was the one who called you), I replied yes. She told me to hold on, then hung up.
Wednesday 2/7, Kay-See and I had plans to go over to Cory and Richie’s for dinner so when I got a message from Cory on myspace I figured it would contain plans for the evening and I wasn't surprised. I was, however, surprised by the content. Here’s a little taste: Hey there Karrah!! I just want you to know how much I like you and that I think about us being together sometimes. See you tonight! Hmm. I tried to deflect and told her I was excited too and asked if I could bring anything. I got a harmless message back so I figured all was good. Two hours later however I got this little gem in my inbox: Hey there.. are you bringing your overnight bag? I guess we'll address the serious stuff later tonight. Wink, wink***** hugs **** This did not seem harmless. I deflected again saying that I didn’t know I was invited for a sleepover but that I had to work in the morning. I wanted to call Kay-See so badly but she was having her first day at work and would be busy doing important stuff and not have time for my crises. I called her on my way home and she eventually called me back as I was cleaning up the kitchen and preparing to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies to take over to Cory and Richie’s. After I read her the messages she says “I wish you could see my face right now”. So we discussed and made plans to meet up before going over to C and R’s. I continued making my cookies and cleaning then Susan called and I read her the messages too and she goes “You’re going to be a lesbian tonight!” which made me a little nervous but I knew I would have backup (Kay-See. She’s the jealous type). I showered and got ready and eventually got out the door a bit after 7, called Willie on my way and talked to him until I arrived at my usual parking spot, got buzzed in to Kay-See’s building and headed upstairs. I got a great hug and we started talking about her first day at the new job and she offered me one of her famously delicious chocolate chip cookies, they put mine to shame really. She ended up wrapping them all up for me and putting a big sign that said “Please Eat Me” on the package. Oh, I will. We walked over and Richie let us in where we found Cory cooking up a storm and Neil reading up on events in The Stranger. We settled in, started chatting and eating some delicious little mushroom tarts. Richie and Cory served up a fantastic salad in some really cute shell shaped bowls and while we were eating Cory requested everyone’s attention and said she had something funny to share, which happened to be her messages to me on myspace and how her and Richie had been playing T or D the night before and he dared her to do it and they choreographed the whole thing and when I hadn’t delivered the desired response Cory called Richie who replied “We have to go farther!” and came up with the second message. We were all laughing pretty hard and I’m a little flattered that I was the target of a dare, those crazy kids! Cory then served us up this crazy hot veggie and brown rice dish…and I’m not just saying it was hot because I have no tolerance, it was so hot that all of us were sweating and crying a little. Cory didn’t even eat hers and urged all of us to not eat if we didn’t want to. It tasted really good it was just really really hot, even with Richie’s “Duller downer.” After dinner we broke the cookies out and Richie asked about them to which I replied that I whipped them up after work and Richie laughed at me and called me sassy or something because he thought I said “picked them up” and that I had then put them into a tuperware for effect. Kay-See brought Apples to Apples, a fantastic game that puts no pressure on any particular player. We played two games and I won both! Go figure! Two of my best rounds were 1) Hot – Hiroshima 2) Melodramatic – Helen Keller (Everyone knew it was my card because I couldn’t stop laughing). I cannot stress enough how fun this game was, I’m even contemplating buying it, gasp! After we finished the second round Kay-See and I took off and let me in to snag those yummy cookies she made then I drove home and arrived a little after 11:00. Pretty late for a non-Thursday-night worknight.
Tuesday 2/6, I went down to Loehmann's and tried on a bunch of stuff but didn't love any of it so I headed over to the Factoria mall. First up was Target where I got a PS shirt and a tea pot, then to DSW where I didn't find any silver shoes, then to N. Rack where I found some ok shoes. At home I was incredibly lazy watching OC and laying on the couch. I vowed to eat a healthy and light dinner so I steamed some fresh broccoli and ate it up, delicious! I then ate an apple with peanut butter, but that was not enough to satisfy me so I ate some little chocolates then a bowl of Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie ice cream. You’d think that would have satisfied me, especially since I was trying to eat light…nope, I proceeded to eat AN ENTIRE BAG OF MICROWAVE POPCORN. Shame on me. I felt really guilty afterward, though not guilty enough to stick my finger down my throat or anything drastic after that. That’s pretty much all I did, eat and watch OC.
Monday 2/5, I conquered my short walk after work then proceeded to be lazy and not do any of the things I had wanted to do…except take out the trash, I did that. I watched a bunch more OC Season 2 episodes then decided to call Trevor and we had a pretty good, if not short, conversation and made plans to do something on Thursday, “Whether it be going to Neighbours or walking around downtown” hm, sounds good to me Trevor. Easy girl, remember your stance on boys right now. He answered the phone “No way” which I thought was a funny, if not creative, greeting. I watched more OC then cleaned up the kitchen and headed upstairs to bed.
Sunday 2/4, I woke up at 8:30 and Eliso called me at 9:00 and we talked for a little over an hour and it was so fun. It’s amazing that we go so long without talking but just chat away like no time has passed. I miss her so much and am so excited that her and Jake are considering moving up here and to go see their wedding in August. When we hung up I got dressed and headed out to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy a new vacuum, then off to Home Depot for a little storage thing but didn’t find one, then hit the grocery store where I picked up some stuff and talked to Dustin a little. I went home, ate some food then hit the road to go see a movie. I talked to Susan then went in to see Notes on a Scandal, and it was a good movie, if not a little disturbing. That 15 year old kid is hot though. After it was over I went to QFC to pick up W then headed home. I called Lindsay and we talked for about an hour. I hung a bunch of pictures, moved some prints around, moved Beck and Dandy Warhols then finished my collage and hung it. I turned on OC and watched some episodes from the second season. Eventually made it upstairs to watch the news and read some Vanity Fair.
Saturday 2/3, Unfortunately I couldn’t sleep past about 8:45 so I got up and ate some breakfast then talked to Susan on the phone for a while and tried to fall back asleep because I was tired. Mom called at 10:30 to say she was on her way to Bellevue but I told her I was trying to go to sleep and would call later. I laid in bed for a long time then got up around noon, ate some lunch and did a few little things in the kitchen and living room then Mom called to say she was coming over. We played with some Thai silk when she got there then we took off to Lamps Plus to return some stuff and ended up finding a cool mirror but not much else. We went to Domain after that then back home where we tried the mirror in the living room then in the dining room but couldn’t decide where it should live permanently. I was tired so Mom left and I went up and fell asleep for a little while then Kay-See called to see if we were still on for a movie but we were both tired so we decided against it. I made some dinner and headed out a little after 8 to Aaron Brothers to see if I could find some frames for some pictures I have but they didn’t have the right size so I headed out and over to Barnes and Noble where I picked up the new Q and GQ (with Jake Gyllenhaal) but came up empty on W with Daniel Craig on the cover, damn! I got a little treat at Starbucks then went home where I watched American Beauty and went through some magazines. I watched SNL then went to bed.
Friday 2/2, Jason called me not too long after work and I went and met him, Beth and Harper at Nordstrom Rack. We wandered around a while talking and looking at baby clothes and shoes then decided to get some dinner. We met at Applebee’s and continued talking about all manner of topics, mostly Jason’s friend Christian who he wants to set me up with. I had to tell him no for right now because I’m off guys, but that maybe when I’m up for it I’ll meet his cute, chef, red headed friend. When leaving I agreed to call them the next time I go to Neighbours to stop by and say hi. I called Kay-See on the way home to get the lowdown on the night’s events. I showered and got ready then laid on my bed waiting for her call and got very very tired and just wanted to go to bed, but I already looked good so I didn’t want to waste it. Not that I wouldn’t be wasting it at Sugar I guess. I drove over, parked and met a very giddy Kay-See at her front door. She confirmed with Richie that we were meeting at Sugar for Pleasure Boys and we set off on foot. It was really cold but we linked arms and kept a brisk pace and were there before we knew it. Standing outside were two of the hottest guys ever, Neil and Richie! Yay, I was so excited to see Neil and he goes “Hi baby doll” Oh Neil, you make me feel tingly in places covered by my bathing suit. We sat out there talking and Richie and I discussed the previous night’s conquests on the dance floor and decided we can definitely do better next time, even though we made two straight guys flee. We also talked about how he thinks that I helped to bring out his new attraction to spanking and about how hot Kay-See looks, especially in those jeans! We went in and headed straight to the bar where I spotted Ely and gave him a big hello and hug but then quickly realized that that was probably weird for Neil, so then Richie turns around and starts talking to Ely and one of the two guys talking to Ely grabs my arm, but I don’t know him, and he points to the other guy and it’s Matt Parker, OMG. So we start talking and he seems good then it was back to the hot boys. Richie bought both Kay-See and me a “sexy” water that I later gave an HJ because it was so hot. We headed to the back where Joey was chatting with a girl whose name I don’t remember and all started talking. Soon a guy, who apparently sleeps with everyone, gets up on the little balcony over the bar and starts dancing. A go-go boy I believe. He was wearing a shrug, Zorro mask and wielding a whip. I couldn’t tear my eyes away. I eventually got to sit next to Neil and I kind of wanted to dance because the music was fantastic but Kay-See and I ended up taking off because she wasn’t feeling well. We said goodbye to the boys and hit the road back to Kay-See’s. On my way home I called Auntie Lauryn and ended up talking to her until 2:00. I was so tired but it was good to talk to her since it’s been over a month, but I was so tired by the time I got off the phone I crashed out.
Thursday 2/1, After work I showered and got ready to go to First Thursday down in Pioneer Square. I ate some dinner then hit the road to pick Chrystol up. When I got there she was really upset and was talking to Jason because two of her birds had died. We ended up inviting Jason to come along because I think she needed a pick me up and having Jason there I knew would be fun. He agreed to come so the three of us drove down and found the same place I had gone with Michael and Eric way back in October. On the first floor Chrystol and I both bought magnets and she bought a bookmark and I almost bought some insanely cute bird earrings, especially when Chrystol started egging me on. I resisted though and we headed up to the next level after meeting one of Jason’s friends. The second floor has the artist’s work that I love over all others. Now I’m determined to buy one, and not one of the puny ones, one of the big ones…though I’m not sure right now how I’m going to swing it, but I will! The three of us want to get one of the studio spaces to all do our art in and charge people to watch us. In one of the rooms I was looking for who to pay for a magnet I wanted when I looked at this lady then she starts whispering to the people she’s with and says something then “That’s her!” and I felt so incredibly awkward, like, do I know you? But none of them ever said anything to me so we left and continued perusing. We were really having a good time especially when we got to J. Wow’s work. Something about breast feeding tequila from double ds and pictures of cats for Schuyler, had us all in hysterics. We migrated to one of the back rooms on the third or fourth floors and everyone in there was wearing black, but the three of us were as well so we concluded that it was ok we were in there. So we start looking at some of the photography and I hear “Karrah?” turn around and it’s S. Wright from Tower so I gave her a hug and we chatted for a second and she told me Chuck was sharing the space as well though I managed to avoid making contact with him. It was apparent that things were winding down so we headed out and I took them home. Overall it was really fun and I’d like to do it again next month and think that Chrystol may even attend with me again despite being “cynical” during this outing. I called Susan to tell her I was on my way over and when I got there she fed me double stuff Oreos and I snaked some M&Ms, yum! Susan’s got quite the stash! We didn’t dally too long there and were quickly on our way over to Neighbours. We headed in and said hi to Tye who picked Susan up and spun her around then we went upstairs to see who was there, and surprisingly there were a ton of people there even though it was early. We went down and checked our coats then went out to dance by Red Shirt and White Shirt. It wasn’t long before Richie and Cory showed up and we all started dancing together. Richie and I picked up our ass grabbing game from where we left off on New Year’s and we managed to get some really good ones in. Two straight couples went fleeing after I got some nice handfuls of ass. This woman squealed in delight after I pinched her butt and she turned around and saw Richie and I told him he made her night. We walked back and forth through the crowd and I’d grab random asses and he’d take the heat. One guy was all over him after I grabbed his butt and I got a couple of pictures of that because it was hilarious. Most people don’t know how to react and this guy was all over it. After Richie disappeared the three of us girls danced for a while, took a break then hit the floor again. Ryan and Vicki showed up and were gabbing with Susan so I decided to take a lap hoping I would stumble across Michael but instead I found Richie dancing by himself so I ran up and slapped him in the ass (which was even funnier because of a spanking encounter he’d told me about) and he whipped around with a look of delight on his face. We talked about friends getting married and relationships which drove him to yell “I HATE BOYS!” then we high fived. There was a cute guy in a flannel shirt and I asked Richie if he thought he was cute or not and he just looked at me with a very disappointed expression then shook his head. I felt very ashamed, but then he was willing to give him a chance so he danced his way over the 3 feet to where this guy was standing, dances right in front of him for a few seconds then comes back over and says “He’s cute!” then confirmed he approved. Him and his friend kept looking over but Richie and I were having so much fun dancing that I barely had the chance to return his glances. We choreographed a routine of Richie alternately mock-slapping me in the face and punching me in the stomach. It was hilarious but probably not at all convincing. Eventually we both decided to go because of work in the morning so I told him I had to find Susan then we could go. We tracked her down and Ryan and Vicki had left so she was dancing by herself which made me feel bad. Richie and me hit the coat check where he proceeded to graze my boob, and when I looked at him surprised he laughed then gave the same boob a hearty pinch. We headed outside where we passed cute plaid shirt guy going back inside, damn. We stood outside talking for a while and he told me I was getting him all hot and bothered, tee hee, oh Richie! I got a couple more hugs out of him and ran to my car where I texted him that I made it. Came home to an empty house.
Kassie, Chelsea and I had just done some grocery shopping and decided to stop by some random bar. For some reason I knew you would be there, though I still acted surprised when I saw you. We started talking and you avoided making eye contact with me as you told me your girlfriend would be showing up soon. “Girlfriend?!” I screeched, “You mean J?” I asked a little more calmly. You told me no then went on about how you had dated this girl in Kentucky and when she found out you and J broke up she moved here to be with you. I couldn’t believe it and wondered why Michael hadn’t told me. I had to get out of there and you looked rather sheepish as I turned around and left. I wanted to ask you why you keep trying to hurt my feelings.
Wednesday 1/31, After work I took a shower and prepped for Kay-See to come over. She called to ask about an ingredient for dinner so I threw the chicken in the oven and had it cooking when she showed up. I showed the carpet off and it seems she approves, I mean, how can you not when it’s that soft? We started assembling dinner and each rolled up a plate full of the most delicious Vietnamese spring rolls I’ve ever had, and they’re SO easy. Good thinking Kay-See. Plus she made all of these delicious sauces for dipping. We decided to watch Cold Mountain since she’d never seen it, so we settled onto the floor and ate our dinner and eventually made our way up onto the couch part way through the movie. I, of course, cried and I don’t think I was the only one…but it’s such a good movie that I can always justify crying in front of someone to watch it. We discussed it afterward and eventually moved onto other subjects like Grand Cayman, oh yeah, I booked a time share to go there…and am also going to London. We talked about Kassie and Skylar and I decided to call her to see if there was any way that she was on her way home because I really wanted her to meet Skylar, and by golly she was. We were in luck. Skylar didn’t really live up to all my stories, but Kay-See got a little taste anyway. We all chatted for a little bit then I walked Kay-See down and we made plans to get together over the weekend. K, S and I spent a little more time together in the living room talking and checking myspace then went to bed.
Tuesday 1/30, I had a dermatologist appointment at 7:30 so I had to be up and out of the house very early and he’s now put me on something stronger and if this doesn’t work I think I’m going to go off it all because clearly none of it is working and I’m just paying hundreds of dollars for my skin to not get any clearer. Hurrah! After work I ate some dinner quickly and showered, talked to both Susan and Kay-See about going to a movie with Jason then headed out around 6:30. I got down to Bella Bottega and walked over to the Starbucks to obtain a little treat for the movie. As I walk in there’s a table of 4 cops who all look up at me, and let me just say that two out of the four of those cops were HOT. I was so stunned that I kind of gave a half nervous smile and hurried by. Purchased my cookie and headed back out secretly hoping that one of them would tell me to stop, frisk me and read me my rights. No such luck. I bought my movie ticket and called Jason to tell him that I was going in and to meet me in the theater. To appear less attractive I didn’t put much make up on, my hair was pretty wonky and I was wearing a thermal with a t shirt over it. Plus I had a plan to floss my teeth during the movie. When he showed up we actually had a fun time talking and laughing through the previews. The funniest part was when I was telling him about the horrible previews at Little Children when Kay-See and I saw it, and he asked what LC was about and I said some cheating parents and a pedophile and he goes “So it was a romantic comedy?” and we laughed for about 5 minutes. It was a good time, and got even better when the movie started because surprise surprise, Daniel Craig is still fucking hot. When it was over we talked about how many Sony products were in it and when we said bye it wasn’t weird or date-y or anything so that was good. We decided to try and do it again soon. I had called Nic on my way in and he had called me back while I was in the movie so I returned his call and we talked for a long time and caught up on what each other is doing. It was nice. After hanging up I read for a little bit and went to bed.
Monday 1/29, I had to come home in the middle of the day to let the carpeters in and was fairly shocked when they said it would take 4 hours. They said I could sign off on it and they would let themselves out through the garage. Perfect! That’s what I like to hear. So after work I rushed home in anticipation of seeing it done and the moment I walked in I could smell new carpet. I LOVE THE SMELL OF NEW CARPET. For the record. It looked amazing and I was so pleased I wanted to call those guys up right then and tell them I loved them. I was eager to get my house put back together so I started moving some of the smaller stuff in, but you can’t really move small stuff in until the big stuff is in…so I decided to move the tv back in from the dining room by myself. For those who have seen my tv you’ll appreciate that I pinned myself up against the wall for a few minutes trying to get that monstrosity down the step, luckily I escaped unscathed. I showered because I had to go down to Southcenter and after I got out I heard the front door open and was surprised that Kassie would be home so early in the evening, but soon learned that it was Mom coming over to check out the carpet. She wanted to get the couches moved back in so we did that then I rearranged the rug in the dining room. She followed me upstairs while I did my hair then we continued to talk in the living room and admire the carpet. I left to go down to SC to exchange the bridesmaid dress for Court’s wedding because a different one had been chosen. I don’t really like this dress, the other one was a lot cuter and more flattering…plus I had to get a size 8 in this one while my other one was a 6. So it’s mostly an ego thing. Anyway, it is what it is, so I headed home and watched I Love New York then showered and went to bed.
