Tuesday 4/7, On the way home I did my grocery shopping but was horrified to learn they’re closing Albertson’s so now I don’t know what I’m going to do. Everything was 10-50% off though, so that was kind of awesome and I bought a ton of shit I totally didn’t need. I went home and unloaded then read some of my new Martha Stewart Wedding until my phone rang and a 253 popped up and I figured it would be Eric so I turned my tv off and cleared my throat. It was him and we talked for quite a while about my trip, his weekend, paying bills, Schuyler and Chrystol and how great they are, laser discs and his job. He eventually asked me if I wanted to hang out on Saturday and I told him yes so we’re tentatively scheduled for that. Yay! I made some dinner, watched some shows including Biggest Loser and ate some M&Ms, showered, read and went to bed.
Monday 4/6, I had the shittiest, literally, night’s sleep. I felt terrible for most of the night and when I woke up it was worse. I got up and ready and prayed I wouldn’t be driving 12 hours while trying to keep the runs at bay. Yikes. Anyway, gross. I threw my stuff in the car, went upstairs to give hugs and say bye to everyone. I took off, got gas and was officially on my way. I stopped in both Eureka and Crescent City to use the bathroom but didn’t stop again until Eugene for gas and another bathroom break. The scenery was beautiful again and I wished I could slow down and enjoy it but I was trying to get home as quickly as possible which meant ignoring most of what was around me and concentrating on taking hairpin turns at 50 mph. I talked to both Moms, Alan, Kassie twice (to find out about Etta – major heat), Susan and Peggy. I made it home in EXACTLY 11 hours, like to the minute. Pretty good time apparently. I hopped in the shower almost immediately because my heat had been off and it was freezing. Ian texted that I should post the pics from when I was down there, then I made some rice for dinner and downed a bunch of grapes. Some hot chocolate for dessert and started uploading and blogging while watching Dancing with the Stars. My throat was sore and I was feeling sick so I decided not to turn off my humidifier.
Sunday 4/6, We all got up and hung in the living room while Kassie made French toast with healthy bread and it was still really good. I showered and had to catch up on the FT because they started before I was out. I caught up to Kim though and we both finished with four pieces. Mom and Dad showed up and we eventually got dressed and Mom and I watched Doodie crash into the bathroom and attack nothing at all. It was hilarious and Mom couldn’t get enough. Us girls rolled out sans Dad and Skylar and headed to Shelter Cove. The drive was pretty but windy. The weather was so-so when we got there and Kassie took us around showing us the town and houses and finally ended up at a little lookout where we took some pictures then back in the car to the beach. We took more pictures then walked down and went all over that beach. Lots of pictures with Aubs being bossy about her positioning in the pictures and Mom calling her bitchy, laugh! We met one of Kassie’s friends on the beach then headed back up to the car to lunch. We sat outside and ate our really really good fish and chips and checked out the cute boys eating at the table next to us. We headed back to the ranch and couldn’t believe how far they’d gotten on the deck. We didn’t stick around for long and were soon on our way into town to check out the shops. Aubs and I took a picture in front of “Weed Connection” then went in to check it out. We weren’t in for long and decided to go out to the old tree house place Mom wanted to see so we took off and stopped at this carved-redwood-animal hell and all I wanted to do was sit in the car but I got out and we perused then went inside where I found a couple pairs of cute earrings and a ton of hilarious stuff we all laughed at. I resisted buying the wood squirrel earrings against Kassie’s desperate pleas. We decided to get going but when we got back to the car there was a terrible surprise in the form of a tiny baby mouse on Kassie’s mud mat. We all freaked out and didn’t know what to do and had no idea where it came from and it was still alive and we could see it breathing and it was just awful. We put it outside and all wanted to cry but what else do you do? The mother wasn’t there and it was a newborn so it’s not like you can take care of it. So that certainly put a damper on our collective mood. We found mouse turds on the floor but couldn’t find where they had come from. We took Mom, Aubs, and Kim to the motorhome but then I heard more squeaking and Kassie picked up the floor mat and there was another one. Fuuuuuck! We all start freaking out again and start tearing apart the front checking every possible place for a nest, but came up with nothing. Kassie put that one in some bushes too and we again felt terrible. We left and stopped at the store so I could pick up some snacks for the drive the next day then home. Dad took off when we got there to get read for Kassie’s birthday dinner and the three of us got ready and J seemed to be doing better and we introduced Leeloo Tushy, who Skylar had found in the woodpile earlier that day, and J didn’t hiss until Kassie tried to put her on my lap while he was sitting off to one side of me. He was being so affectionate to me and it was really sweet and made me wonder where this cat had been the whole time he was living with me. I got the treats out and I think they’ll eventually be good friends. Becky came and met up with us and we took off for dinner. We met the rest of the crew at Groves and started perusing the menu. Dinner was fun and Aubs and I joked a lot and inhaled the bread and Kassie opened her presents and she liked them and dinner was really really good. I had the top sirloin with pomme frites and mushrooms in some rich wine sauce. It was really good but I ate too much. Then Kassie ordered crème brulee and Aubs, Kim and I ate most of it because Kassie ate about 2.5 bites. So dinner was fun and we got out of there at about 10 and Mom and Dad followed us back to Redway at the store where the guy on the bench was. Not really, that’s a joke. We took Aubs and Kim in our car from there and I said bye to Mom and Dad since I was leaving early in the morning and wouldn’t see them and we headed back. There was a little conflict over the driveway marker with K, S and his mom so that was a little awkward but kind of funny too because of Skylar’s response. I packed and got ready for bed and kicked the girls upstairs so I could go to bed.
Saturday 4/5, I slept soo well and felt so good by the time it was time to get up. I had a terrible dream though that there was a river down the hill below Kassie’s house and there was a bear floating down and Dad alerted everyone “A bear, get inside!” and I couldn’t stop talking about it all day. Mom and Dad showed up while we were all still lounging and reading tabloids and they brought a bunch of breakfast cereal and juice and I had Trix for the first time in forever. They changed them back to balls. We eventually all got up and going and decided to go on a walk down to Becky’s so we made Dad get off the backhoe / bulldozer and set off down the road. It was a beautiful walk and we chatted and played with the dogs the whole way. We got down to Becky’s and walked around some more and decided to go trekking through the woods without Dad who had to go back up and keep working on digging the holes for the pilings. All us girls followed the stream and went up and down big hills and Aubrie and I kept almost tripping and falling and would just crack up. I took a lot of pictures and it was absolutely beautiful. Bashful followed quite a ways behind us but was always within eyesight. I thought it was pretty cute. We ended up at this platform thing that Kassie had never seen so we found that pretty interesting and kept waiting for something to come screaming out of it. There was also a tape measure. We couldn’t figure out how the hell someone got those wood planks so far into the woods with no roads in sight. I was getting hungry so I announced it loudly and said I wanted to go back. I stepped in the damn stream like 4 times so my feet were soaking then I almost fell down this 20 drop off and managed to dig my nails in enough to stop while everyone just laughed and took pictures. I was literally hanging off the side of this hill. Aubrie helped me and I noticed I’d broken two nails and had dirt crammed so far up under my nails I didn’t know if I’d be ablel to get it out. We walked all the way back with Bashful following behind and Ida playing with her sticks with Mom. We got the lunch stuff ready and headed down to Becky’s for the cookout. Dad grilled burgers and put some madrone pieces in the grill for extra smoky flavor. Kassie made the best fruit salad I’ve ever had and a delicious salad with avocado, goat cheese, dried apricot and a delicious vinaigrette. Us girls were required to fetch the picnic table and benches and Kim made a hilarious observation about a black garbage bag in the corner and Aubrie confirmed it’s contents. We brushed some of those contents off the bench we were carrying and couldn’t stop laughing. We pigged out on the organic potato chips and cheetos which were both sooo good. Finally lunch was served and we put most of it down then headed inside where the cat sat on the table and the three of us girls pigged out on yummy gourmet desserts Becky had purchased. We eventually left and went back to Kassie’s and we all just hung out inside and visited while Dad and Skylar worked on pouring the cement. I took out J’s bird toy and played with Doodie and actually got her up and around and playing with it so I think that will be her new workout routine. I went upstairs with Aubrie’s computer and checked myspace and eventually fell asleep upstairs for a little bit with Jacques. Mom and Dad left when it got dark and we all hung around watching tv and talking and watching the animals run around and play. Ida kept getting into the bag I brought for J and getting all his toys out and was cracking everyone up. Eventually Kassie put on Orgazmo and poor Kim was averting her eyes until I broke out the fruit salad and her and Aubs came over and we polished it off. Skylar left to go work on the pump or something so we switched between the Sasquatch program (Olympic runner vs Sasquatch vs robot) and the dwarf documentary. Skylar came back and told Kassie he needed her help so they left together and us girls turned on Excess Baggage and I finally sent them upstairs to watch it from up there because I wanted to go to sleep.
Friday 4/4, I got up around 6:15 when Ian’s alarms went off (that damn fire alarm one is awful), quickly got ready and said bye to him. He pulled me over to him and we laid hugging for a little while then I blew him a kiss on my way out and he blew one back but then pretended to throw up because he felt sick. I loaded the car, got J situated (still hadn’t eaten or drank any water), gassed up across the street (“Can I pet your cat?”), hit QFC for some apples and water then onto the road. I got lost in PDX because the f-ing signs are terribly laid out. I made a rest stop bathroom break then back onto the road talking to Susan filling her in. I talked to Mom then Court for a long time. Stopped in Crescent City at Subway to grab a little lunch; the line was long so I went to the bathroom and skipped the sandwich and kept on. I snacked on animal crackers instead. J was so good in the car and only meowed like twice and otherwise just napped on the back seat and was a good boy. Between Kass, Mom and Dad no one could figure out what the program was so I eventually just called her a few miles outside of town and she gave me directions but I was really worried because I wouldn’t have service once I started down her long road. The gate code wouldn’t work but after yanking on it a few times I got it to open. I pulled up and Skylar was outside with Justice (Yum!) and yelled for Kassie so introductions were done, including the dogs, and in the house we went. K was cleaning and trying to get the house ready so she showed me around quickly then we chatted while she finished. I brought the cat in and Doody (aka Double Doodie – she’s huge) didn’t like him so we put him upstairs and when Skylar came in he didn’t even know J was there and he was like “Do we have another cat in here?” and I told him yes and he was like “What’s his name again? Pierre?” and I laughed and said it should be. So now he might become Jacques Pierre. We were there for a few hours then headed into town to meet up with Mom, Dad, Aubs and Kim for dinner. Aubrie informed me they were in front of “Hemp Connection” which I then referred to for the rest of the trip as “Weed Connection”. Kassie challenged me saying “It’s not like you can go in there and buy weed” and I asked “Wanna bet?” so Skylar thought that was pretty funny. We ate at Cecil’s which was kind of southern, like New Orleans fare, and super delicious. I got the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. We all talked and laughed and had a wonderful time. Aubrie and I checked out guys and when the conversation turned to breastfeeding I had to shush Dad and Kassie several times as both their voices kept carrying over to other tables. We headed out after pecan pie dessert and Aubrie pushed me out of the way from stepping in the butter. We all went back to the motorhome so the girls could get their stuff and it’s a very nice park. We talked for a long time in there and had some sweets and dried fruit and nuts. Kassie gave us our presents which were matching shirts that have a little earth on them and say “be nice to me” and are soo cute. We planned to all wear them during the weekend. We headed back to Kassie’s and showed the girls around then settled onto the couch to watch tv though I can’t recall what…I don’t think it was Orgazmo…yet.
Monday 4/6, I had the shittiest, literally, night’s sleep. I felt terrible for most of the night and when I woke up it was worse.
